Pondicherry University launches online admission portal


The University of Pondicherry has launched an online admission portal for various distance education courses.

A press note from the University indicates that the Department of Distance Education (DDE) at the University of Pondicherry offers five MBA programs, four postgraduate programs (PG) and two undergraduate programs (UG) to all those who have not been able to enroll in regular university and professional programs. educational programs at affiliated colleges of the University. This is done with the aim of meeting the needs of those who may not be able to continue their higher education in formal / on-campus tracks.

This year, DDE obtained approval for 20 study programs in September and October, which include eight MBA degrees in Marketing, Finance, Human Resource Management, International Business, General, Tourism, Operations Management and Marketing. supply chain and hospital management, four PG degrees including M.Com. (Finance) and Masters in English, Hindi and Sociology. These degree programs have been recognized and approved by AICTE, New Delhi, and the Distance Education Bureau (DEB), New Delhi.

In addition, a sanction was also given for eight UG diplomas (BBA, B.Com., BA in English, economics, history, political science, sociology and journalism and mass communication).

The admissions process usually begins in June for the academic year and in January for the calendar year. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation, this year’s admissions have been delayed and began on November 17.

Gurmeet Singh, Vice Chancellor of the University of Pondicherry, launched the DDE website and online admission portal in the presence of the Director, Registrar, Finance Officer, Dean of CDC, DGM and the branch manager of the Indian Bank, and all DDE staff.

CK Ramaiah, Director of DDE, while welcoming the approval of 20 degree programs, alluded to many other ongoing initiatives. The DDE has automated the entire admission process so that students from any part of the country can submit their application forms and make their payment online. The University of Pondicherry Computer Center developed the DDE website, while the online admission portal was developed by the Samarth team at the University of Delhi.

The Vice Chancellor said the DDE had obtained all approvals from AICTE, New Delhi and DEB, UGC, New Delhi, although the COVID-19 situation caused some delay in the process.

The DDE of the University of Pondicherry is the first in the country to organize job fairs to help students pursuing distance education programs and this year the University plans to hold a job fair. online in December, Singh said.
