SPPU: first semester exams will take place online in February-March

Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) announced on Thursday that online exams will be held in February-March for all first semester postgraduate, postgraduate and diploma courses.

The exams were previously scheduled to take place in October-November last year.

The decision came after Higher and Technical Education Minister Uday Samant announced that no offline courses or exams will be held in the state until February 15.

Meanwhile, a notification issued by the Examinations Department of SPPU informed the students that the detailed timetable will soon be published by the university on its website, http://www.unipune.ac.in. For some time, students have been eager to know the format of the exam.

The exam will be conducted online in a multiple-choice format. Each paper will have 60 questions, of which a maximum of 50 correct answers will be used for the calculation of the results. For the Mathematics and Statistics exams for engineering and science students, 30 questions will be asked, of which a maximum of 25 correct answers will be used for the calculation of the results.

Students have been informed that although the session length may be listed as 120 minutes or two hours upon login, the exam duration is only 60 minutes, after which students will be logged out. The notification states that student complaints will only be considered for valid reasons such as unable to log in, logged out and unable to log back in, wrong language question document, unable to submit an answer document, overlap with another exam or Covid-19 issues.

If the student is disconnected during an exam in progress for any reason, the session duration will automatically increase based on the remaining minutes and answers to questions answered in the previous session will be automatically entered and accepted.

In line with the university’s practice in previous exams, mock tests (based on general knowledge questions and not on real subjects) will be held three days before the main exams to familiarize students with the exam system in line.
