Delhi police have imposed a strict National Security Act (NSA) on the five defendants arrested in connection with the Jahangirpuri violence. During the procession in Jahangirpuri on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti on Saturday, there was a clash between two communities, in which eight policemen and a local resident were injured.
According to the police, rock-throwing and arson took place during the clashes and some vehicles were also set on fire.
According to the PTI news agency, Delhi police said those arrested under the strict law include Ansar and Sonu, the alleged ‘main conspirators’ of the violence, who were seen shooting in a video during Saturday’s violence. The NSA was also imposed against Salim, Dilshad and Ahir.
