Montgomery County Food Bank Gala Unites Community to Fight Hunger and Nurture Hope

THE WOODLANDS, TX – The Montgomery County Food Bank (MCFB) hosted its Fighting Hunger, Feeding Hope Gala on Saturday, April 2, 2022. The sold-out event hosted over 400 guests at The Woodlands Resort and Conference Center. Presented by Woodforest National Bank, proceeds from the event benefit food bank programs and the thousands of children, families and seniors facing hunger in Montgomery County.

The gala theme was “One for Records”, highlighting the record-breaking work of the food bank, its volunteers and community partners in 2020 and 2021. The theme allowed guests to ditch the black ties and the usual evening dresses and to spice up their rock ‘n’ roll nightwear. It was a big hit with the crowd – presenting a fun and festive atmosphere while raising money for a very important cause.

The main event featured a variety of ways for community members to support the food bank, including a live auction, silent auction, wine and spirits raffle and raffle. Scott Harper, President of the Conroe/Lake Conroe Chamber of Commerce, and JJ Hollie, President and CEO of the Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce, co-hosted the evening. Dr. Ann Snyder, who sits on both the Montgomery County and Woodlands Township food bank board of directors, served as honorary chair of the event alongside gala chair Amy Hollie.

The food bank also presented awards to the winners of the 2022 Fighting Hunger, Feeding Hope Gala. Each of the winners played a significant role in the food bank’s record-breaking impact in 2020 and 2021. 2022 include:

• Abundant Harvest at St. Isidore Episcopal, Agency Partner of the Year Award
• Sam Houston State University School of Nursing, Volunteer Service Award
• Walmart New Caney Fulfillment Center, Community Partner Award
• Dan Cunningham, Betty Hardy Award

Through the connections and buying power of the Montgomery County Food Bank, every dollar donated to MCFB helps provide up to five meals to those in need. The gala raised over $350,000, which will help provide up to 1.75 million amazing meals. In 2021, MCFB served an average of 55,800 people each month and a total of 9.6 million meals. An impact impossible without the support of the community.
