GoDaddy Launches Devices, Merchants Can Link Stores

Web hosting company GoDaddy has extended GoDaddy Payments with the launch of two point-of-sale (POS) devices, according to a press release.

The first device is the GoDaddy Smart Terminal, which works for physical businesses, the release said. It’s dual-screen and doesn’t require swivel screens, and businesses can customize it with their logo to strengthen their brands. It also has a built-in hidden printer for receipts.

The second device is the GoDaddy card reader, which comes with a docking station, according to the release. It can be used for instant payments at farmers’ markets and other such places. It includes a scan, chip and tree support function in one, and it works with the GoDaddy mobile app. Its autonomy can last a full day.

The new technology comes from the company’s acquisition of Poynt in December, which became part of GoDaddy’s e-commerce software, the statement said. The goal is to give small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) a head start on selling, tracking and managing sales in more places.

In addition, it allows traders to operate both offline and online, selling “anything, anywhere,” the statement said.

GoDaddy has also deployed the complete GoDaddy Payments solution, which will help small business owners save more money, the release said. With this program, customers pay a 2.3% transaction fee, although online transactions add 30 cents. The idea behind the program is to make transactions “quick and easy”.

“GoDaddy’s new point-of-sale offerings strengthen our customers’ ability to sell anywhere and grow,” GoDaddy Chairman of Commerce Osama Bedier said in the statement. “We’re on a mission to provide small businesses with the most powerful, easy-to-use commerce solutions at an unbeatable price. And we’re just getting started.

Last month, GoDaddy launched features for paid links and virtual terminals.
